Mas-related G protein-coupled receptors
Mas-related G protein-coupled receptors (MRGPRs) are a family of orphan GPCRs, subdivided into nine separate subfamilies (A-H and X). They are found in mammalian species, with families A, B, C and H present only in rodents, the X subfamily only in primates, including humans, and families D to G conserved across mammalian species. The MRGPRX family consists of four distinct receptors (MRGPRX1-4) with enriched expression in mast cells and sensory neurons of the dorsal root and trigeminal ganglia. Mas-related G protein-coupled receptors are important in pain, temperature sensation and itch.
