[Des-octanoyl]-Ghrelin (human)
Cat. No. GR-010
Structure:
Other Names:
Activity:
[Des-octanoyl]-Ghrelin (human) is the more stable, non-acylated and major circulating isoform of ghrelin (human), with a a half-life of 35 min in plasma compared with 10 minutes for acylated ghrelin. Unlike ghrelin, [des-octanoyl]-ghrelin (human) does not bind to the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), or induce growth hormone release. [Des-octanoyl]-ghrelin (human) exerts negative inotropic effects in papillary muscle and displays cardioprotective activity, inhibits cell proliferation in breast and prostate cancer cell lines and promotes adipogenesis in vivo.
