Selective neuropeptide Y Y1 receptor agonist
[Leu31,Pro34]-Neuropeptide Y (human, rat) is a high affinity neuropeptide Y Y1 receptor agonist with a Ki of 0.39 nM, and also some affinity for Y4 and Y5 receptors. [Leu31,Pro34]-NPY microinjected into the periaqueductal gray produces both analgesic and anxiolytic effects in rats, and intrathecal administration of [Leu31,Pro34]-Neuropeptide Y (human, rat) can attenuate itch behaviour in mice.
