SMAP 29 (sheep) is a 29 amino acid sheep myeloid antimicrobial peptide (SMAP) which is a cathelicidin with an alpha helical structure and the ability to disrupt cell membranes. SMAP 29 (sheep) acts as a broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against gram negative and gram-positive bacteria and fungi and has been investigated as a treatment for acute and chronic respiratory infections.
