Calpain and cathepsin B inhibitor
MDL 28170 is a potent, selective inhibitor of calpain and cathepsin B with Ki values of 10 and 25 nM respectively, but does not have any effect on trypsin-like serine proteases. MDL 28170 rapidly penetrates the blood-brain barrier following systemic administration and demonstrates neuroprotective effects in vivo.
